I was thinking the other day about money. About property. About the power the haves hold over the desperate. And mostly about that tired line the libertarians and the right generally love to drop: “It’s human nature.”
I can’t deny that I’ve fallen into the trap of this individualistic mindset myself, at least to some degree.
But then I thought about this:
You have a thorn in your foot and it hurts. You know that if the thorn comes out, the pain leaves with it. You know this because from the very beginning of your existence as a human (millions of years ago), you sure as hell didn’t have this thorn.
Money and property are exactly that. A thorn in the foot, or a constant “pain in the ass”. You know that if you pull it out, you won’t hurt anymore. And even better, next time, you put on shoes so you don’t step on it again.
